The 29-year-old driver of Taveuni, in Cakaudrove, who was alleged to have caused the death of two people in a road accident on Wednesday night, has yet to be charged.

The 29-year-old driver of Taveuni, in Cakaudrove, who was alleged to have caused the death of two people in a road accident on Wednesday night, has yet to be charged.

Mosese Moce, a school teacher of Somosomo District School, was transporting four passengers in a four-wheel drive twin- cab to Vurevure when the accident happened at Qeleni on Taveuni.

Dead are Sovaia Hennings, a 45-year-old school teacher of Bouma District School and Mikaele Vada, a 50-year-old of Vurevure also in Taveuni.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed that Moce and a passenger had just been discharged from the Taveuni Hospital.

“While the second passenger who is a woman remains admitted in a stable condition,” Ms Naisoro said. She said the driver was expected to be charged early Monday.

The road death toll now is four compared to zero for the same period last year.
