The hearing date for a former secretary in the Independent Legal Service Commission (ILSC) charged with corruption related offences will be set next month.

Afrana Rahiman Nisha is charged with one count of falsification of document and one count of obtaining a financial advantage amounting to $3450. She appeared before Magistrate Waleen George at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Nisha’s lawyer, Iqbal Khan yesterday confirmed to the court that he has received the full set of disclosures.

It is alleged that between July 1 and August 2, 2012, Nisha dishonestly falsified a Bank of Baroda cheque amounting to $3450 by forging the signature of the Solicitor-General of Fiji, Sharvada Sharma, with intent to obtain financial advantage.

It is also alleged that between the same time, while being employed as a secretary, Nisha dishonestly obtained financial advantage of $3450 by forging an Ana Tuiketei as payee signature, on the back of the cheque and thereafter directing one Vandana Raj to cash the said cheque to obtain a financial advantage.

Magistrate George adjourned the case to the 16 of next month and extended bail for Nisha.
