Lelean Memorial School won the inaugural Uprising Resort Secondary Schools 7s at the Bayleys Coral Coast 7s at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

The Davuilevu side defeated Tuva 17-14 in the grand finale to walk away with $4000 prize money.

Robust prop Ron Tawake, Ponijese Lukuta and Romulase Saulala scored a try each to establish victory yesterday.

LMS principal Colati Ledua praised the players for their effort in continuing their winning tradition in the sport of rugby.

“The school is happy with this achievement and the sacrifice they have gone through was shown by players in the final.

“Reaching the final is a feat in itself. We came in very defensively and the boys just need a pat on the back.

“We hope to continue this in this new school year which is about to start,” he said.

Tuva coach Aisea Natoga said his boys played well as a team during the entire competition.

Meanwhile, in the first semi-final LMS beat Lomary 17-5, while Tuva beat Uprising 29-0.

In the plate final Ra High School beat Navosa Central College Two 17-5, while Cuvu College beat Nasikawa 31-7 to claim the Bowl title.
