Fijian Pearls defender and Captain Matila Waqanidrola aims to be part of the Telecom Fijiana team for the 2016 Rio Olympic in August.

Having her first taste of rugby training at the Uprising Fiji Beach Resort, Waqanidrola says rugby is  different from netball.

“First the ground. It is wide bigger than the netball court and I haven’t played rugby before. I always watch rugby and now playing the game it is a total different feeling altogether,” she said.

“Rugby requires a lot of fitness and that is something that I need to work on because it requires a lot of work. It is totally different from netball. The girls are really accommodating and helpful.

“This is my only chance to fight for a spot to Rio,” she said.

She also plans to settle down and start a family after the Rio Olymopics.   Edited by maikeli Seru
