Waisale Serevi trained with Ben Ryan’s squad at the Sigatoka Sand Dunes yesterday morning.

And he warned that those who want a spot in Ryan’s team, including former national rep William Ryder, to work extra hard.

“I salute William Ryder and Sireli Naqelevuki for making a comeback by playing at the Bayleys Coral Coast Sevens,”Serevi said.

“In fact it doesn’t depend on the coach whether they or any other player makes the cut.

“The onus is on them.

“They need to train harder, nothing is impossible. Looking at the current squad-those that didn’t play, they are very fit.

“I was with them at the sand dunes and those who want to join them need to work harder.

“I thank Sireli and Ryder but I think they have to play more games. In William’s position there are about 10 people there.

“To make it to the team he needs to be better than those players. I’m talking about the likes of Seremaia Tuwai, Kitione Taliga and Osea

Kolinisau and some other players so they need to work harder.

“7s is more professional now.

“You cannot play 15s and 7s, you have to choose. I salute Ben for putting up a good programme for the boys.

“The boys are doing well and Ben Ryan is doing well and I didn’t see any problem.

“It’s a dream to be an Olympian- that was my dream at one time. But good luck to the boys and Ben.” Edited by Osea Bola
