Three overseas teams want to participate in the 40th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s on April 29-30 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Marist Rugby Club president Lawrence Tikaram confirmed Belgium, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Spain were keen to be involved.

“We’ve been corresponding with Belgium, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Spain,” Tikaram said.

“We could get more teams from overseas but our focus is on local teams especially those from the rural areas.”

The two-day tournament will feature 64 in 16 pools of four teams and eight women teams.

The admission for day one will be $7, day two is $7 for ground and $15 for the grandstand.

Tikaram said registration closes once all teams paid up their $500 fees in full by April 1.

“Teams must register the accurate name of their team on the ANZ deposit slip with a valid mobile contact so contacts can be verified,”he said.

“Failure to do this disqualifies a team’s entry,” he said.
