Visit LDS Suva-Fiji Temple, PM urges

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is encouraging members of the public to visit the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints Suva-Fiji Temple at Samabula, Suva.

He visited the temple with some Government ministers yesterday. With him were the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-

Khaiyum, Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, Minister for Health Jone Usamate, Minister for Labour Semi Koroilavesau, Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou, Minister for Fisheries and Forests

Osea Naiqamu, and the acting Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho.The PM urged the public to visit the magnificent temple overlooking the Suva Harbour when it will be open for public viewing from next week – January 25 to February 6.

“I’m inviting members of the public to visit this temple,” Mr Bainimarama said.

He said most people looked at the temple from outside, but they should go inside to see.

LDS area service manager, Adolf Johansson said the church was grateful that the Prime Minister visited the temple.

Mr Bainimarama was also presented a framed portrait of his family tree dating back 1577 BC.

The church, in a statement, yesterday said the Suva-Fiji Temple was its 91st operating temple in the world.

It was announced in May 7, 1998 and dedicated in June 18, 2000 by Church president Gordon B Hinckley.

After extensive renovation, it will be rededicated on February 21.
