Salimoni Ravouvou is happy with the performance of the players who turned up for the Under -20 trials at Buckhurst Park last Friday.

The Vodafone Fijian U20 coach said it would be hard to reduce the squad to 50 from 80 this week.

“It feels really good to get started with the training and getting the boys together and seeing what we have come up with,” Ravouvou said.

“We’ve seen some new talent which is always refreshing to see and the boys have been really enthusiastic and have shown their eagerness to impress. We have only had 12 boys remaining from the last team so there will be new faces in the squad.

“Working with the boys will be exciting and there is also going to be some players from overseas who have also expressed their interest and sent in their profiles.”

Ravouvou said the players kept up with their off-season training which showed their commitment.

“The fitness has been really good which I’m impressed with especially with the boys coming out of the festive season.”

The Vodafone Fijian U20 commence their training tomorrow.
