Vodafone Fijian 7s rep Seremaia Tuwai aims to play to expectation at the Wellington 7s this weekend.

The Buca, Cakaudrove native missed out the Cape Town-leg due to food poisoning after a stunning performance at the 7he Sevens in Dubai.

“The competition for places in the team is really tough and I’m fortunate enough to be selected by coach Ben Ryan.”Tuwai said.

“We’re really hurt after our loss in Cape Town, but we always trust one another and we believe in ourselves to deliver positive results.”

Tuwai treats each leg as a learning experience.

“There were a lot of ups and downs along the way especially niggling injuries but that will not stop me this year in trying to book a spot for Rio,” he said.

Tuwai calls on fans to support the team through prayers.

“I’ve been getting a lot of support from home and also my Newtown community. We will work as a team and I’m calling the public to pray for us.”

Tuwai switched to coaching yesterday as he guided the Newtown 7s team during the Citizen 7s tournament at Suva Grammar School.

“I started my rugby career with the Newtown Rugby Club playing 7s and 15s. We won the Koroturaga Shield in the Suva Rugby competition in 2013.

“I’m training the players to take part in the revived Nasinu Rugby Union.”
