A Bua diver Iosefo Rabuta, 49, died at Colonial Memorial War (CWM) Hospital in Suva.

He being treated at the CWM Hospital for decompression he suffered during a diving expedition in Bua early last week.

Mr Rabuta was from Vunirara Settlement in Nabouwalu in Vanua Levu.

Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed the death.

“The man became unconscious while diving in Nabouwalu and had been admitted at Nabouwalu Hospital; he was airlifted to CWM Hospital in Suva,” he said.

Timoci Naqete
Fiji Sun has now received confirmation that the late Mr Rabuta was diving with Timoci Naqete, 24, who also suffered decompression, and had been airlifted to CWM Suva earlier on January 18.

Nabouwalu acting sub-divisional medical officer Dr Raymond Vuniwa yesterday confirmed that Mr Naqete was recovering well.

“Naqete is well recovered but is still admitted at CWM Hospital,” Dr Vuniwa said.

Police are now waiting for the post mortem results on the late Mr Rabuta.
