Vodafone Fijian 7s rep Apisai Domolailai hopes to make his debut at the Wellington 7s this weekend.

The Laselase, Nadroga native made his 7s debut in the World Sevens Series in 2012 but has not played a in Wellington.

“I always feel robbed of making the cut to the Wellington 7s in past,” Domolailai said.

“It’s either I’m injured or dropped from the squad.”

He failed to make the cut last season after he injured his knee while playing for Nadroga in the Skipper Cup competition.

“My aim, like other players, is to play at the Rio Olympics in August. Injury has been my worst enemy. I will be cautious yet put my body on the line for Fiji. But I desperately want to make my debut at the Wellington 7s.”

Domolailai said the team was in top shape and they needed to win at the Cake Tin.

“Fiji last captured the title in 2010 and we need to do it this weekend,” Domolailai said.

Domolailai and team resume training today at Uprising Resort, Pacific Harbour before flying off to New Zealand tomorrow.

“We have few days to be with family and it’s back to business. This year the preparation is tougher compared to previous years but that’s the way it has to be,” he said.

His wife Kinisimere has promised to support her husband in his bid to make it to Rio Olympics.

“The focus this year is the Rio Olympics and I am planning with few friends to be in Brazil to watch the games,” she said.

She said Domolailai has always kept the faith after being excluded in the past.

“He’s always confident, keeps the faith and I will always supports him.”
