Swimmers Prepare For Qualifier

The Fiji swimming training squad is all hyped up for the Oceania Championship in July.
The Oceania Championship will be held at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre in Suva in July.
Coach Hayden Belshaw said early preparation was vital for the team.
“The Oceania Championship will be an Olympic Qualifier and we’ve to be prepared for it,” he said.
“Things are going on really well and their technique has certainly improved which is really good.”
Belshaw is focusing more on the team’s fitness. He said the swimmers would also be encouraged to take up more events at the Oceania Championship.
“We need to take part in middle distance events rather than just participating in the 50 metres.
“Everyone likes to train in the 50m but we really need to train and start looking at some middle distance events,’ he said.
Belshaw was impressed with the team after the festive break.
“They are really doing a great job and I’m really impressed with the effort they are putting in for their team and getting prepared for Oceania Championship,” he said.
