Ganesh Chand’s Lawyer Wants More Time

The former Fiji National University (FNU) vice-chancellor, Ganesh Chand’s lawyer, Nancy Choo, yesterday asked the court for more time to go through the proposed agreed facts.
Chand, who is charged with one count of abuse of office while being employed as a public officer, appeared before Justice Priyantha Fernando at the High Court in Suva yesterday.
The matter was for the Defence’s response to the proposed agreed facts that were submitted by the prosecution on the last occasion.
However Ms Choo sought for further time and has also written to prosecution asking for further disclosures.
FICAC Lawyer Rashmi Aslam then asked for seven days to file these disclosures.
The case has been adjourned to March 3 for further pre-trial conference and to set a hearing date.
