Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans Mini Business Forum to coincide with the event

 

The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is working closely with the Nadi-based Chinese community to have a grand celebration to mark the Chinese New Year.

2016 has been named the Year of the Monkey by the Chinese and the chamber is planning celebrations on February 20.

Chamber President, Dr Ram Raju, said the celebrations will coincide with a mini Business Forum at the Tanoa Skylodge in Nadi.

Dr Raju said the chief guest for the event will be the deputy Chinese Ambassador, Yang Xunlei who is also the Economic and Commercial Counsellor.

He said several of our cabinet ministers will be invited as well.

During the programme, they will be also honour the Chinese pioneers with certificates of recognition.

“We did miss a few last year and more have been identified,” Dr Raju said.

Dr Raju confirmed the event will be used to launch the Nadi Tourism Magazine/Flyer and also the launching of Holi festival to be celebrated on March 19.

A Nadi-based Fijian of Chinese ancestry Gemma Kwong, will be the event coordinator.

The Chamber said they have also set out several objectives namely fundraising drive for Suva baby Craig Sanday, a blind boy who needs overseas medical treatment.
