Action from the match Fiji-Villarreal Youth match in Spain.

We played our fourth match against Villarreal Youth and despite going down 0-3, the boys gave the best they could.

We could have taken the lead in the 2nd minute but Napolioni Qasevakatini missed a golden opportunity after receiving a good feed from Antonio Tuivuna.

Fiji kept pressuring the host but cracked in the 26th minute when captain Alvin Singh fouled Villarreal striker outside the penalty box in which they scored.

In the 31st minute another mistake by Fijian defenders allowed the host to score their second goal.

Just before the halftime break Villarreal went up by three goals.

Fiji played well in the second half and denied the host to score more goals.

Team director Tarunesh Reddy and Coach Frank Farina were impressed with the performance.

Team captain Alvin Singh was satisfied with the how the boys played.

“It is a good learning experience for the team and that is the reason we are here,” said Singh.

He urged fans to stay positive and not criticise the team and officials.

“The fans should keep supporting us as we are not here on a picnic trip but to learn from the players who are professionals in every way. It was a tough match but it was good to play against them and learn.

“We are already here for 13 days with two more matches to play.”

Fiji will play Castellon FC tomorrow at 3am.

Until tomorrow, Moce Viti.
