Rehabilitation works on the Kings Road.

Motorists travelling along the Kings Road will have an improved driving experience as soon as Fulton Hogan Hiways (FHH) completes rehabilitation of the Verata stretch of the highway.

The four-kilometre section of the road has not been repaired for a number of years, according to FHH operations manager Phil Tombs, and some 6000 vehicles travel this road daily.

“The road has been affected by years and years of flooding and overloaded vehicles. Both have caused the deterioration of the road, making it impossible for motorists to avoid the numerous potholes,” Mr Tombs said.

The seven-men FHH crew have completed stabilising and sealing the first 500 metres of the road, with the remaining section still undergoing rehabilitation.

FHH, working closely with the Fiji Roads Authority, continues to provide road maintenance for the central and northern divisions.
