The Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights met with members of the International Labour Organisation Tripartite Mission yesterday.
Committee chairman Ashneel Sudhakar said the discussion was fruitful as it enabled them to elaborate on issues regarding workers’ rights.
“The meeting was part of their mission to enquire about issues regarding the workers’ rights under the ERP.
“The two points discussed were on bargaining unit aspect, whether it was necessary to have bargaining unit or not. Second issue was the expansion of the essential industries,” Mr Sudhakar said.
“Generally, the team was satisfied as the committee had explained in detail the issues that were raised.”
