The Assistant Minster for Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana yesterday challenged those participating at the Rang-De-Viti walk wellness programme to make 2016 a physically active year.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports supports such initiatives that guarantee maximum benefits to the citizens of Fiji,” he said.

“It has been and will remain a concern for the Fijian Government that is promotion and sustainability of health awareness and intervention strategies to harness healthy living for all Fijians.”

Mr Delana was pleased with the number of people present at the event.

“The participants this morning has dramatically increased and the event has also gained popularity with the arrival of participants from as far as Suva this morning,” he said.

“While we are staying active it is also wise to consider other aspects of healthy living especially our diet and eating habits.”

Colour Explosion Fiji president Paula Benn echoed similar sentiments.

“We are happy with the turnout of the public to the event which shows how concerned they are with their health,” she said.

There was over a 1000 people present at the walk together with the assistant minister for youth and sports.

She said they will now be partnering with the Ministry if Youth and Sports and the National Youth Council to take the event to Suva.
