Give our youths a future. That is the message by the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Allison Burchell.

“We must listen to the youths and we must prepare a Fiji for them to take over from us,” Ms Burchell said.

“They are the future and we must ensure that we give them something that they will be proud of.”

She was accorded a traditional iTaukei welcoming ceremony at the ministry’s headquarters in Suva yesterday.

Ms Burchell, a South African, said she would be focusing on ensuring effective service delivery in the ministry.

“I believe that teamwork is extremely important as we move forward.”

She was a Business Development manager for UK-based Sport: 80 Services Limited.

She is a dedicated senior manager with combining sports industry knowledge and supervisory management expertise.

Ms Burchell officially starts in her new role today.
