National football head coach Frank Farina said the Vodafone Fijian U23 players will play for their district teams.

Farina said he would make sure players feature for their district teams during the Pillay Garments Champion v Champion Series between Nadi and Suva on Friday.

“We are preparing for the Olympics in August but players need to be involved with their clubs and districts,”Farina said.

“There might be  a time at some stage where we need to draw a line and the districts might not be happy but we will work through that in the proper way.

“We won’t be using the media to work things out. It’s very simple to sort things out.”

Farina was overwhelmed with the performance of the team during the six-match Spain tour.

“The players gave their best shot and did what was asked of them,”Farina said.

“The result is not that important. I’ve to work a lot on the finishing aspect as we have good strikers.”

He said the team will take a break for two weeks and will resume training for the Brazil outing.

Fiji lost to Levante United 0-2, drew -1-1 with Hercules FC, drew 2-2 with CF Cracks and hammered by Villarreal FC 3- 0, won 1-0 against Shanghai Shenhua.
