Westpac Welcomes New GM, Brett Hooker

Adrian Hughes to finish term later this month with Hooker to take up position mid-month

Westpac has announced the appointment of Brett Hooker to the role of its new General Manager Fiji. Mr Hooker will replace Adrian Hughes, who will finish his term later this month and return to Australia.

Westpac’s Regional Head of South Asia and the Pacific, Greg Pawson, said: “I am thrilled to announce Brett Hooker as Adrian’s replacement. I also want to thank Adrian for his dedication and for being an integral member of the team.

“Brett is one of the best known bankers in the Pacific region and will bring specialist expertise to the Fiji banking industry, alongside a real passion for people.

“I know Brett will get straight to the job of helping customers and communities use financial services to prosper, while working with our local team to continue to build Westpac’s Fiji business.”

Mr Hooker was previously Regional General Manager of Westpac’s operations in Cook Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu, and also the Country Head for the Cook Islands.

Mr Hooker said: “I’m excited to be part of the Fijian community at a time of enormous economic and social growth.

“This is especially with key industries such as tourism expanding and global trade for Fijian companies really starting to take off.

“It’s an honour to take on a leadership role within the financial sector of Fiji; the Pacific’s regional hub, and a truly amazing place to be able to call home.”

Mr Hooker will be based in Westpac’s Suva office and will frequently travel to visit teams and customers across the country. He begins the role in mid-February.

Mr Hooker joined the Westpac Group in 2010 as a senior commercial manager in the natural resources sector.

Before joining Westpac, he was owner and director of a commercial finance company which he established.
