The High Commissioner of Tuvalu to Fiji, Paulson Panapa made an appeal to his people to take good care of the MV Nivaga III

Speaking during the commemoration of the vessel’s maiden voyage to Fiji, Mr Panapa thanked the Government of Japan for the $FJD 28 million donation as it would help solve transportation problems in Tuvalu.

“I welcome the MV Nivaga III to Fiji for the first time,” he said.

Mr Panapa indicated they are also grateful to the Fijian Government for supporting Tuvalu over many years and in numerous ways.

“Fiji is Tuvalu’s doorway to the world. That is why many Tuvaluans are educated in Fiji.”

He also praised the stand made by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama on climate change and the willingness of his government to accept the people of Tuvalu.
