Vodafone Fijian 7s head coach Ben Ryan has reminded the forwards to get their act together up front and play according to plan.

The team started off with a gym session yesterday in the countdown to this weekend’s Sydney Sevens.

The boys looked confident yet quiet as they went through their morning session.

This was then followed by ground work at St Joseph’s College ground where Ryan reminded the forwards pack Viliame Mata, Isake Katonibau, Semi Kunatani Pio Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua and Apisai Domolailai to concentrate.

Their job is to get the ball and go forward while the rest of the job would be left to the backline to finish. The team also focused more on drills during the training.

With short sprint sessions, the boys looked spirited and confident for a positive outing this weekend. Most are still recovering from last weekend’s Wellington 7s, hence are having light training sessions.

Our man Ryan believes this is positive for the Fijians since most of our players are physically fit and they continue to have high intensity training.

McKee visits Vodafone

Flying Fijians

Flying Fijians coach John McKee paid a surprise visit to the team yesterday.

The players showed excitement in having McKee around. It was also an opportune time for Ryan to have a discussion with him.

Meanwhile robust winger Sevuloni Mocenacagi’s chance of making it into the final 12-men team this weekend will be known today when he is given a check.

Fiji is in Pool C with Argentina, Samoa and France. Fiji plays Samoa at 12pm on Saturday, France at 3.18pm and their last pool game against Argentina at 7.21pm at Allianz Stadium, Sydney.

Lying second on the standings after three legs, Fiji has 52 points behind leaders South Africa (54 points).
