Govt Investigates New Co-operative

Government is now investigating the Fijians Helping Fiji (FHF) Co-operative Limited, says Permanent Secretary for Industry and Trade Shaheen Ali.

He said he had directed one of his senior officers to carry out the investigation.

“Once she completes her investigation, she’ll hand the file over to me and I’ll take action,” he said.

He said the investigation would clear all the controversy surrounding the new company.

When Fiji Sun contacted FHF yesterday we were told the chief executive officer was away in Vanua Levu.

However, he had earlier told the Fiji Sun that they were ready for any investigation and they had nothing hide.

Meanwhile the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs Board Deputy Permanent Secretary Apakuki Kurusiga told the Fiji Sun yesterday that they did not recognise the new co-operative.

And Fiji’s Ambassador to the United States of America, Solo Mara said he would be making enquiries from America on the authenticity of the organisation.
