PM Lauded For Development

Josevata Duanacoko, 54, who is the manager of Mataso District School in Ra, is grateful to the Government for it’s support.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama officially opened the school’s new boys’ dormitory, a restroom facility, and a renovated school block, dormitory, kitchen and dining area, yesterday.
Mr Duanacoko said the school had developed and grown compared to his school days.
“I went to this school in 1967 and at that time we had about four teachers and the highest level was in Year Six,” he said.
He said the school was just a small wooden room, the teacher’s quarter was just a bure and students had to bring lunch from home.
Mr Duanacoko said the school first had its first block building in 1972.
He said children from the nearby villages of Navikoso, Veidrala, and Mataso in Ra also attended the school.
Meanwhile, Mr Bainimarama said these projects cost $211,843 and upgrades had transformed the school into a more modern, sophisticated institution.
“The students here at Mataso can now build on, what I understand to be, a stellar academic reputation,” he said.
Mr Bainimarama also encouraged students to achieve great things with the new facilities and tools.
