Sevens maestro Waisale Serevi urges rugby fans to support the Vodafone Fijian 7s team ahead of the Sydney 7s this weekend.

In his recent Facebook post yesterday Serevi stated it was better for the team to lose now then win gold in Rio rather than winning now and lose gold in Rio.

“Do we want to win all these tournaments and lose Gold medal Rio, or lose some of these and win Gold in Rio?

“I’d rather lose now, learn quickly, refocus and win  gold in Rio. We all don’t want to lose, we hate losing but games are getting tougher and will be more competitive,” Serevi said.

Serevi strongly believes the only way a team will learn is to lose.

“The only way we learn is when we stumble and fall in life or lose a game of rugby.

“Boys are hurting right now but I know they will want to prove themselves this weekend.

“We lost one game but it doesn’t mean Coach Ben and the boys are no good.”

The 7s master in itaukei language wished the team the very best for this weekend and calls on the team to finish strong.

Fiji plays Samoa at 12pm tomorrow, France at 3:18pm and last pool game against Argentina at 7:21pm at Allianz Stadium, Sydney.

Fiji is currently in second place in the points standing with 52 points behind leaders South Africa who are currently on 54 points.
