A 24-year-old mother, charged with the attempted murder of her son, appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza at the Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday.
Shahista Shewani Devi is charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of criminal intimidation.
It is alleged that on Tuesday Devi allegedly tried to murder her four-year-old-son and threatened to kill her mother-in-law.
Police prosecutor Raymond Filipa told the court that Devi allegedly told her mother-in-law that she will kill her ‘with the knife’.
The charge was read to her and she indicated she fully understood.
She will reappear at the High Court in Suva on February 18 and has been further remanded in custody.
