Setback For Suva

Suva Football are facing problems as the team plays its first game of 2016 against Professional Valuations Ltd Nadi in the Pillay Garments Champion Vs Champion (CVC) at 7pm at the ANZ, Stadium.

Vodafone Fijian Under-23 reps Nickel Chand and Filipe Baravilala have not turned up to any of the training sessions.

Rusiate Matarerega’s inclusion in the team is also in doubt as he suffered a cut on his toe on Wednesday.

“Some of the U23 players turned up today (yesterday) but not all of them. We are still missing two players Nickel Chand and Filipe Baravilala,” Singh said.

“I’m not sure what’s wrong with them as both of them are good players and their absence has hindered our preparations.

“We will be looking into this matter very seriously because it is a very important game and their inclusion is very important.

“I have spoken to the other players and they have turned up to their various districts and started training with them so our players have no excuse not to turn up.”

Despite the setback, Singh has named Poasa Bainivalu as captain of the side.

“We got other players who have been training with the team for the last three weeks,” he said.

“We are looking forward to a good game,” Bainivalu said.

Suva will play Nadi in the Pillay Garments Champion Versus Champion first leg tonight at 7pm at ANZ Stadium, Suva.

The second leg will be played on Sunday at Prince Charles Park, Nadi at 3pm.
