Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Ben Ryan has ruled out Emosi Mulevoro for the Sydney 7s which starts today.

Mulevoro is injured and Viliame Mata was the only new inclusion for this week.

“Mulevoro out injured, Mata’s in,” Ryan said.

Mulevoro was Ryan’s first choice halfback at the Wellington 7s last week. The role would be shared by Amenoni Nasilasila and Seremaia Tuwai.

Ryan is optimistic the team will make amends after ending up in third spot in Wellington last week.

The Fijians play the first game of the Sydney 7s against their island brothers Samoa at 12pm today.

Samoan head coach Damian McGrath said it would not be an easy journey.

“This is the first time we play Fiji in the 2015-16 series and we are looking forward to the big task,” McGrath said.

He believes being grouped in a pool with Fiji, Argentina and France will be good for the team.

“It will be a difficult game against Fiji but we are going to give our best shot,”he said.

“Our pool is tough having France and Argentina but it’s what we are here for.”

Fiji plays France at 3.18pm in their second pool game and their last pool game against Argentina at 7:21pm today.
