Heartbreaking
Norman Yee, Nadi
It was heartbreaking watching our heroes being demolished by the fleet-footed Boks.
No doubt by now Ben and his team have worked out a counter-attack strategy to block the efforts of the other teams all eager to defeat us. We may have lost a battle, but not the war.
This is my prayer: “Lord, be our guide, to our arsenal of skills and physical fitness please add a much needed dose of humility and mental toughness. For ‘We can do all things in Christ who strengthens us’”.
Let our humility in Christ shine in victory and in loss. Amen.’ Go Fiji go!
7s extravaganza
Pranil Ram, Nadi
It’s going to be a quick, furious and highly entertaining festival of 7s rugby this weekend.
With the inaugural Sydney 7s declared a sellout the fans will be in for lots of action. The most spectacular part of 7s rugby these days are fans dressed up in multi-costume and for sure Sydney will be no different.
Fans will also have an opportunity to witness some of the stars of the game like SBW, Speight, Kunatani, and others. For players it will be a massive step-up for not only winning this tournament, but for getting their places back in the team for rest of the series and Rio.
Players have to maintain the same level of intensity and momentum each time they run on the field.
Teams will have a chance to vindicate themselves by taking advantages of opportunities as they are presented to them this week. Go Fiji go!
FRA projects
Joji Toronibau, Tunuloa
Now, I had witnessed on the table scribbling of few MOUs between FRA, MRMD, MLG and MOL’s and cohort by A-G.
I sincerely hope the rural road infrastructures MOUs etcetera in the North will also be in that priority listing, especially the Natewa Bay side of Tunuloa to link Wailevu Primary School and Napuka Catholic Mission Secondary. For too long school children had to walk, wade across rivers and steaming across the seas for education.
On the same breath, we deservedly want Police presence as well on wheels at times to lessen illegal activities.
Paris deal
Floyd Robinson, Nasinu
Is the climate change deal forged in Paris worthy?
Some say it’s good for a start, but the bigger question is whether bigger countries will live up to commitments.
What about smaller countries living up to their commitments? Whatever one’s views, let’s just hope that there is more dialogue about this across the nation.
More importantly, one hopes there is more discussion in vernacular and terminology simplified so that ordinary individuals can understand or relate to it. Otherwise it will appear like some other complicated discussions and the real gist of Paris deal would be lost.
