Fifty-two prefects of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Primary School which included the class captains, the heads and their deputies were inducted yesterday at their school hall in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Headgirl Simran Arti Kumar from Nadera, Nasinu, says being the school’s deputy headgirl last year helped her to build her leadership skills.

“I was the deputy last year and became headgirl this year so I am very happy and feel I can lead my school,” Simran said.

Another student, Prikansha Chand who stays with her mother and supported by her grandparents had been appointed as a school prefect.

According to teacher Khushboo Nair, Prikansha is one the most outstanding and disciplined students.

“She is a very hardworking and a disciplined student, I have not had any complaints about her and her mother is very supportive whenever she has time, she comes to school to ask about her daughter’s performance,” Ms Nair said.

“I am proud being the mother of a prefect,” said Prikansha’s mother Swastika Bhan  said.
