Proud Day For The Lanyons

Thirty-one lawyers were encouraged to read about the life of the late Sir Timoci Tuivaga to shine a light on their goals, ambitions and aspirations.
The newly-admitted lawyers to the bar were urged to read Sir Timoci’s A Memoir of Sir Timoci Tuivaga Kt. CF which was published in 2014.
Justice Anthony Gates shared how Sir Timoci’s humble beginnings led to him becoming Fiji’s exemplary role model.
He was the first iTaukei chief justice.
“Study Sir Timoci’s memoirs and you may learn for yourself how you wish to set your life.
Sir Timoci passed away in late December aged 84.
The chief justice also reminded the lawyers of their duties to their clients, the fraternity, its workers and the nation.
“Undoubtedly life at the bar, if you are to be successful, will be, at times punishing. It is not for the frivolous,” Chief Justice Gates said.
“From time to time you should re-read your oaths.
“It is to be hoped that you will be committed to your clients, and that you will in your conduct towards them, treat them with understanding and respect.”
