Staff of Seamech Limited were in Fijian colours yesterday to support the Vodafone Fijian 7s team ahead of the Sydney 7s which starts today at the Allianz Stadium.

The 35 diehard rugby fans also collected $740 for the Road To Gold campaign-an initiative to assist our Fijian rugby men’s and women’s 7s team in their preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics in August.

Seamech office manager Torika Brodie, who is also the committee member for the Road to Gold campaign, said they informed the staff on Tuesday about the tea party yesterday.

“We told our staff on Tuesday about the tea party where they need to dress up in Fiji colours to support our 7s team this weekend and at the same time donate towards the Road To Gold campaign.

“Through the support of this entire staff, we collected $740. We are encouraging other organisations to do the same and support our national teams,” Brodie said.

Torika and her husband Shane Brodie, who represented Fiji in sailing in the Pacific Games and other regional events, know the experience of standing on the podium when the national anthem is being played.

“Different feeling comes to you when you are on that podium,” she said.

“You got to think of everything especially the people who supported you to win gold, it’s just amazing.”
