Prefect Dedicates Achievement To Late Mother

Jaden Hazelman paid tribute to his late mother after he was inducted as a school prefect last Friday.
Jaden, 12, of Rishikul Primary School in Valelevu, Nasinu said: “I only wish my mother was by my side during this special occasion, to see the role that has been given to me; when I walked down the podium, thoughts of my mother starts coming back.”
“I stood there and imagined if my mother was still alive. She would be among the parents present at the prefect induction ceremony today, but I know she is watching over me.
“It was after a normal school day in February last year while he was returning home from school when I was informed that my mother had passed away.
“It was unbelievable and that was the saddest day of my life,” he said.
“I dedicate my achievement to my late loving mother. She suffered from breast cancer and today I want to thank her for breathing life into me and for my upbringing.
“I want to thank the Almighty for giving me the strength, my teachers for entrusting this role to me and my stepfather for playing a huge role in my life,” he said.
Jaden hopes to become a neuron scientist in the future.
He is originally from Savusavu in Vanua Levu.
