Fiji Swimming started their 2016 season with the Long Course Grand Prix Series One at the National Aquatic Centre.

Fiji Swimming vice-president Viliame Takayawa said they were looking forward and preparing for the Oceania Swimming Championship to be held in Suva in June.

“This is our first competition for 2016 as we prepare for the Oceania Champs. I’m grateful that all the 8 clubs participated in our first competition for the year.

“We will also be looking for sponsors to fund our National Championship on March 31.

“We would like to thank Westpac for providing us with printers to help our work and technical officials from all the clubs who are here organizing this tournament.

“We working with Fiji Sports Council on the upgrading of the facilities and we would like to thank the Fiji National Sports Commission for financing the tournament.”

The Oceania Championship is held after every two years  .
