Ratu Epeli Ganilau’s son, Ratu Penaia Kamisese Tuivanuavou Ganilau yesterday married Odette Kilinalivoni Tupou-Moheofo of Tonga at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa, Yanuca Island, Sigatoka. The bride is the first cousin of Princess Salote Mafileʻo Pilolevu Tuita.

Ms Tupou-Moheofo’s late Latunuia ‘Ahomee’ Taumoepeon Tupou is the youngest sister of the Queen mother Halaevalu Mata’aho.The queen mother was also present for the wedding.

Speaking on behalf of the family of the groom, the Roko Tui Bau, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi said: “We celebrate and affirm Ratu Penaia Kamisese Tuivanuavou Ganilau’s marriage to Odette Kilinalvoni Tupou-Moheofo, a man and a woman in love.

“They represent not only themselves, but equally importantly, two families, two cultures and two countries. Groups of islands and people bound together by centuries of camaraderie and rivalry in which kinship and blood ties ebbed and flowed according to the vicissitudes of fortune.

“On behalf of the groom’s family and friend may I wish the new couple a blessed life of love, friendship and laughter and may God bless them always.,”Ratu Joni said.

Those present at the wedding included- Her Majesty the Queen Mother of Tonga, Queen Halaevalu Mata’aho; Ratu Epeli and Adi Ateca Ganilau; Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Tupouto’a Ulukalala and Princess Sinaitakala Fakafanua Tuku’aho; Tongan Princess Salote Mafileo Pilolevu Tuku’aho and Lord Tuita; Prince and Princess Kalaniuvalu-Fotofili; Lord and Lady Fakafanua; Lord and Lady Vaha’I; Sir Michael Somare and Ms Betha Somare; Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa; Na Turaga mai Naisogolaca Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and Adi Koila Nailatikau and family members and friends.

Officiating at the wedding were the President of the Methodist Church in Fiji, Reverend Tevita Banivanua, Reverend Setaita Kinahoit Veikune and Father Ekuasi Mua.
