Police Officers Suspended After ODPP Filed Additional Charges

The nine Police officers charged in relation to the death in custody of Vilikesa Soko have been suspended on full pay.
This decision was made by Acting Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho on Sunday following a statement which was released last Friday by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Christopher Pryde.
Mr Pryde had decided to file additional charges against police and military officers involved in the Vilikesa Soko death in custody matter following a review of the case.
Manasa Talala, Seruvi Caqusau, Kelevi Sewatu, Penaia Drauna, Filise Vere, Viliame Vereivalu, Jona Davonu, Pita Matairavula and Senitiki Natakasavu face the following additional charges:
1. Attempted rape of Senijeli Boila
2. Sexual Assault of Senijeli Boila
3. Sexual Assault of Vilikesa Soko
Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho met with Mr Pryde this morning and explained the reasons behind his decision.
