Volunteer To Make A Difference In Vietnam

Meet Shania Simpson – an ambitious local volunteer ready to make her mark in the world.
Shania, 19, will leave Fiji today for three months to teach English in Vietnam. She will be educating students at Vietnam Maritime University as part of the Lattitude Global Volunteering programme.
“I’m most excited about experiencing a new culture,” she said.
Lattitude Global Volunteering (formerly known as Gap Activity Projects) is an international youth development charity. Their mission is to provide unique opportunities for young people to make a positive difference to their lives and the lives of others.
This is done by supporting them on diverse, challenging and structured international volunteering placements in a community and culture different from their own.
Lattitude has been actively supporting communities in Fiji for over 15 years, and now it’s the turn of Fijians to help our neighbours. Shania will be the first Fijian to volunteer overseas with Lattitude.
“I’m looking forward to meeting my volunteer partner,” said Shania.
While being in a new cultural setting by herself will be a challenge, Shania is confident that she will learn a great deal from this experience. She will be accompanied by her Canadian placement partner, along with two Australian volunteers who will also be teaching at the university.
