Blazers Gear For Nadi Event

Team is looking forward to the tournament
The Nadi Blazers women’s sevens rugby team is excited to feature at the inaugural West Sevens Series tournament at Prince Charles Park on February 26-27.
Nadi Blazers will feature two teams in the women’s category, Panthers and Hurricanes.
“We are excited to be part of the West Sevens Series as it’s not only provides our players with the ability to fine-tune their skills, but we are proud that this tournament is held on our home ground,” Nadi Blazers manager, Lailanie Burnes said.
“With this being the first West Sevens Series tournament, we are looking forward to a well-run, professional and successful tournament.”
Burnes said the Nadi Blazers were grateful to the organizers for including women competition.
“Women’s rugby continues to grow from strength to strength in Fiji. However, for us to reach our full potential it is necessary to develop our players,”she said.
“Therefore, not only is it important for us to participate in this tournament, and as many local tournaments as we can, but we would also encourage all other women in Fiji to do the same.”
12 women teams are expected to feature in the tournament.
West Sevens organisers hope to attract 180 women players.
“It is our aim to promote women’s participation and we appreciate Nadi Blazers being the first team to register,” West Sevens Rugby Series tournament coordinator, Biu Tadranu said.
“The response has been slow so we have decided to extend the deadline for registration to this Friday.
