Vanuatu 0-5 New Zealand
Vanuatu got shut out in their first game of the OFC Futsal Championship losing to New Zealand 5-0 at the Vodafone Arena yesterday
What happened:
Physical first-half for both sides as Vanuatu got the first real chance at goal from captain Ben Hungai and Pakoa Rakom. New Zealand put under constant pressure by Vanuatu making them work hard at defending. The Kiwis getting frustrated trying any attempts at goal to get that lead.
Halftime: Vanuatu 0-0 New Zealand
New Zealand came back more aggressive in the second half applying pressure on Vanuatu. The constant pressure paid off with goals from Daniel Burns and Micky Malivuk. Jakub Sinkora scoring number three with their fourth by Malivuk who gets his second, 4-0. Kareem Osman scored the fifth goal for the Kiwis from a corner kick, 5-0.
Big play: Vanuatu had a good first-half blocking out New Zealand and having more control.
Star turn: New Zealand came back more composed and control in the second-half shutting out Vanuatu with good goalkeeping from Elias Billeh and Atta Elayyan.
Comments: Vanuatu coach Louis Dominique; “We did really well in the first-half. But the second half the boys didn’t follow the game plan.”
