Arieta Balenasiga vowed to rise to the challenge after she was inducted as headgirl of Sigatoka Andra Sangam College last week.

Arieta was inducted alongside headboy Akash Kumar and 60 other school prefects at the school’s prefect induction ceremony.

“It was quite surprising and challenging. But I know it won’t be a burden, but a challenge to lead the students,” said the Noco, Rewa, lass.

Arieta said she would handle the role with ease because she has been in a leadership role since Year 11.

She will lead the student council for the year alongside Akash.

“I will think about everyone and treat them equally and manage my time wisely so I can balance my work,” she said.

FijiFirst Member of Parliament, Jilila Nalibu Kumar officiated at the prefects induction ceremony.

She said: “Leaders need to be obedient, humble and be positive.”

Mrs Kumar mentioned the importance of leaders’ role in school.

She wished all the prefects well in their journey and reminded them to love and respect the entire school.
