New MPs sworn-in Today

It is an honour and a privilege to be part of the Bainimarama Government, says Mohammed Mursalinul Abe Dean.
The 31-year-old will be sworn-in as a Member of Parliament alongside prominent veteran journalist, Matai Akauola in Parliament today.
“It’s an honour to be part of a party which has been very good in terms of policies providing for so much for the people of Fiji.
“I am not here as an individual as I will be representing the party. I am an educationist and have always supported the policies of the Bainimarama Government,” he said.
Mr Dean said the FijiFirst’s education policies had always inspired him.
“I was a lecturer at the Nadi Technical College and a counsellor.
“It was a very sudden decision, but I was inspired when I was teaching at a rural high school. I had seen the immense difference on education policies made to the life of school children, especially those who came from poor backgrounds
“It’s the education policy of the Bainimarama Government that encouraged me,” he said.
The duo will fill the vacant positions left by Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote, the former Minister for Labour who is now the President, and businessman Sanjit Patel .
Mr Dean collected 589 votes in the 2014 General Election while Mr Akauola polled 615.
Mr Akauola said he was looking forward to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament.
