The vessel MV Yasawa Legend II is now undergoing a facelift.

Kese Investment director Sairo Sotinaviti said there has been an additional investment of $20,000 for maintenance works to be carried out.

He said the company bought the vessel for a  sum of $250,000 and it is managed by village elders of the tikina of Naviti in Yasawa.

“There has been an investment of $20,000 in terms of renewing the license and repainting the boat along with other maintenance works as well,” he said.

“It is four weeks now and there is a big deman d for the vessel to start servicing the islands.

“This will ease the burden on the people. We are looking to service the whole of the Yasawa group by Thursday.”

Mr Sotinaviti added that the vessel can accommodate up to 65 passengers and cargo as well.

On board there are four crew members- a Class 5 captain, an engineer and two other crew members.

The vessel previously was servicing routes that connected people from the mainland to islands in the Yasawa and Mamanucas as well.

“Also the vessel is available for charter. The vessel has transported tourists as well as supplies to the islands.”

The vessel was previously owned by Peter McGhan of McGhan Investments.
