The shipment of donated Russian weapons and equipment to Fiji which was received by Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) is worth $19million.

This was revealed by Minister for Immigration, Defence and Security Timoci Natuva in Parliament yesterday.

Opposition whip Ratu Isoa Tikoca, in his supplementary question, questioned the Minister on why Members of Parliament were not informed since there were a lot of concerns raised by the public regarding the shipment of weapons to Fiji.

Minister Natuva responded and said: “The shifting of arms and ammunition goes through a safety process around the world and we do not have to go around telling people that Fiji is receiving arms and ammunition.”

He further stated that the finalisation of the shipment was made after the publication of the 2016 National Budget.
