Sunbeam Fiji Acquires Coral Sun Express Business

Sunbeam (Fiji) has acquired the Coral Sun Express part of the business from Tourist Transport Fiji effective yesterday.

This essentially means Coral Sun Express (Fiji) Limited is now a subsidiary company of Sunbeam (Fiji) which holds majority shares in Coral Sun.

Sunbeam Fiji business manager, Zahid Wahab, confirming this said the acquisition also includes the Coral Sun express route as well as five Scania coaches from Tourist Transport Fiji.

Sunbeam has been in the transport business since the 1950’s and is one of the pioneering companies.

Mr Wahab said “We identified this acquisition under our business development plan.”

The acquisition means the Tourist Transport Fiji buses which used to provide services from Holiday Inn Suva to Nadi International Airport and vice versa, will be rebranded as Coral Sun again.

By next week, people will be able to see the buses painted in the Coral Sun livery once again.

What it will mean now?

Mr Wahab said the acquisition means serving a different market niche now which Sunbeam will be stepping into.

The Coral Sun Suva/Nadi Airport/Suva Express Service will still be provided.

However, there will be one departure daily instead of two from Grand Pacific Hotel/Holiday Inn at 7am and one departure daily at 1pm from Nadi International Airport.

“This service does not call at any bus stations,” Mr Wahab said.

“Our clients will be locals and also tourists requiring connections to and from the Nadi International Airport.

“Customers who did not wish to enter the busy Bus Stations can use these services.

“The coach will also call into all major resorts if there are booking made before the coach has passed that resort.

“Our on board host can be connected last minute for picks once the coach leaves the departure points.”

Mr Wahab said the fare is higher than the local express fares. For example from Nadi to Suva it is $20.

Another change will be that previously, paid bookings were compulsory on this service.

Now you can just walk in without a booking.

Mr Wahab said: “There are heaps of seats available and if the coach is full, we will get another one in straight away.”

While currently the services will be once daily from both ends, there are plans to increase depending on how the demand is.
