Better Services available for Korovou farmers

The Waidalice Chilling Centre (WCC) farmers’ co-operative in partnership with the Pacific Feeds Limited and in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture officially launched the distributorship of the animal feed at WCC Farmers’ Cooperative Warehouse in Tailevu yesterday.
Ministry of Agriculture acting deputy secretary, Tomasi Tunabuna, while officially launching the distributorship, thanked the WCC farmers’ co-operative for taking up their own initiative in terms of agricultural development.
Mr Tunabuna said people of Korovou will now benefit from this initiative and the services will be available to them at the Warehouse and Distribution Centre.
The chairman for the WCC farmers’ co-operative Hirday Lakhan said the aim of the distributorship is to make life easy for the people of Korovou.
“People will not have to pay for transport to travel all the way to Lami or Nausori to buy feed instead they can directly purchase from the Chilling Centre with the same price,” Mr Lakhan said.
Mr Lakhan added that they are looking forward to providing better services to the people of Korovou.
“At the moment, all dairy feeds are here and now we are going to ensure that we better our services by making available day old chicks and feed requirements.
“Our future plan is to do more than what we are doing and to make available farm chemical and fertilizers at the WCC.
“WCC is working in line with Government’s aim to develop people. Through this we are saving money for the farmers and generating money for the co-operative at the same time,” Mr Lakhan added.
