The Land Transport Authority is furious about the defiant attitude of an increasing number of Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers who continue to breach the PSV driver code of conduct despite the ongoing education and enforcement being conducted by the authority. In a most recent case handled by the authority, a bus driver allegedly swore at a passenger when she threatened to report his improper conduct to the LTA.

LTA chief executive officer Naisa Tuinceva has explicitly demanded that PSV drivers either change their attitude or lose their license.

“I want this kind of madness to stop, I will not tolerate this sort of behaviour,” said Mr Tuinaceva.

“PSV drivers must provide excellent service to the public on behalf of the LTA. We are supposed to be the same team here – treating the Fijian people with utmost courtesy, respect and dignity. Yet, we continue to see shocking and extremely poor performance of PSV drivers on our roads. They are being arrogant, rude and mean, and this is shameful.”

Mr Tuinaceva is reminding drivers the public is watching and that the authority will not hesitate to cancel the license of notorious PSV drivers.

PSV drivers are reminded to strictly follow the PSV Code of Conduct as their job is under scrutiny at all times. The aim of this code is to align PSV drivers to ensure best practices are delivered with road safety and customer services as the paramount interest.
