Westpac and Vodafone have once again pledged their combined support for the Fiji Institute of Accountants’ (FIA) annual Congress.

A cash sponsorship of $250,000 for the next three years events, was announced during a press conference yesterday.

The 44th FIA Congress will be held on April 21 and 22 at the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Denarau Island.

The theme of the event is ‘Towards a Brighter Fiji’. Organizers expect to attract more than 400 delegates including many of Fiji’s top private and public sector decision-makers.

This year’s FIA Congress is once again set to host a number of high profile speakers who will give delegates important global and commercial insights.

FIA president, Nouzab Fareed, thanking the sponsors, highlighted this year’s congress will be different from previous years as it is now scheduled on two working days.

He said: “Normally we have it on Friday and Saturday but this year we will have it on Thursday and Friday.

“This is because it is going to be the value for money and we want to make sure the sponsors are happy and the other is people are going to come and learn for 10 hours and for two days.”

Event highlights

Mr Fareed said for the past two years, they have been extremely happy with the debate which takes place during the congress.

“It’s the most anticipated event of the congress and this time we have a very good subject and it’s about social media,” he said.

Mr Fareed said the theme this year is going to be around shaping a better future for Fiji.

“Fiji institute of Accountants being the premier accounting body, we need to set the platform right so we work with the Government and other associations and do what is right,” he said.
