The National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has advised that a tropical depression is producing rainfall across parts of Fiji.

The general public especially those who live in the Tavua and Rakiraki areas have been urged to be vigilant due to Tropical Depression 09F causing widespread rain across many areas around Fiji. A flood warning has now been in force for low-lying pocket areas in the Western Division especially along Rakiraki River including Rakiraki Town.

Roads update

Roads in Rakiraki town are the worst affected at present while most waterways are rising.

Drivers and pedestrians are requested to take extreme caution when travelling in heavy rain and to refrain from crossing flooded waters.

The Divisional Emergency Operation West will continue to monitor the situation.

All roads in the Central and Northern divisions remain open.

Parents are to ensure that children stay away from flooded roads and waterways.
