BLK First Landing team put on a good display during the Northern Bligh Water Sevens Series at Ratu Ganilau Park in Savusavu yesterday.

The team won their two pool games beating Onova 19-7 and  Ambassadors 17-0.

Coach Josevata Bola said Onova had three former Fiji national reps, Leo Naikasau, Waisea Nacuqu and Vilimone Morawa.

“Although Onova had an advantage having experienced players, my players stood up to the challenge,”Bola said.

“My players are all unemployed and come from Nadi, Navosa, Nadroga.”

“Despite numerous challenges, we managed to team up for the last four years now.”

Bola, who is the former Fiji Warriors first five eighth, aims to win the first series.

“Today we will be facing Savuiqali Two in the elimination round and we need to win it to qualify for the Cup quarterfinals,” Bola said.

Northern Bligh Water Sevens Series organiser William Vulivuli said the inclusion of BLK First Landing had strengthened the competition.

“We are very grateful to have 24 teams from all over Fiji participating in this tournament,” Vulivuli said.

“We are planning to have the second series next month.”
